I have decided to start a new CD project, my first in many many moons, and post about it as a way to explain my creative process. I'm sure most people dont care about my creative process. But I am sure that what will be revealed is that inspiration and discipline go hand in hand. I will be calling on a few friends to help out in parts and get in on the process. I'm hoping it will be more inspiration than perspiration but who knows. Even a "fail" will be interesting, so I'm not afraid of that.
Instead of just firing up the synths, and DAWs, and effects, and what have you and going to town, I will add a cerebral element to this by giving it a theme. This will do a few things. One, it will make the end result cohesive, two, it will demonstrate how writing takes place when you are forced to write on a subject, three, it will be hard.
I will use all the tools at my disposal, and they are considerable. Expect some rock, electronic, maybe even some rap thrown in for good measure. Some instrumental, some lyric, lots of mood and emotion.
I'll clue you in as to the topic tomorrow. Looks to be a busy summer.
